I got negatively surprised by the few positive critics on rottentomatoes.com: users disliked both style mixtures and acting of this last Peter Jackson’s movie. I found everything very appealing. Except for some teeny moments – very boring, indeed – the rest was deeply capturing and the colorful and childish view of the heavenly world provided strong contrasts to the realistic, violent story. The lovely bones is one of these few sad movies that got really stuck in my mind. Give it a chance!

Поражает увлечение части интеллектуальной верхушки России псевдопатриотизмом. А ведь достойные все люди:
Константин Киньчев совсем съехал на славянофильстве и заводит стадионы «небом славян», которое акустически упорно и навязчиво звучит как «время славян». Славян, которых вот-вот атакуют: «За бугром куют топоры, Буйные головы сечь, Но инородцам кольчугой звенит Русская речь». Или скандирует «Мы – Светлая Русь»… Батенька, за Вами тысячи идут. И не все из них будут разбираться в том, что Вы на самом деле имеете ввиду, а наслушаются и пойдут дальше орать «Россия для русских», да еще и бить неславянскую часть населения и гостей Родины, если не резать. Уж чего-чего, а национал-патриотизма в России хватает, и подстегивать его со сцены, я считаю, почти преступно.
Гордиться национальностью это все равно, что гордиться тем, что ты родился мужчиной, или женщиной – чего гордится-то? Ну, родился и родился: отличаешься от другого вида рядом признаков (во втором случае – половых, в первом – каким-то внешним видом, разрезом глаз, цветом кожи), ты что от этого, больше пользы человечеству принесешь? или более счастливым, умным, богатым, добрым станешь? – Нет. Интересно, если в Китае начнут со сцены орать «небо азиатов», на Ближнем Востоке подхватят «Нет, небо арабов», а американцы опять заведут свое «Бог любит Америку», то куда мы все придем и что останется от Земли? Или «время славян» должно завесить нас от всех остальных «неславян» железным занавесом, чтоб не лезли?
Еще поразил недавно уважаемый Дмитрий Быков в своей рецензии на «Аватар», развивший теорию о том, что «Родина есть Родина, права она или не права».
