Syberia and Syberia II: very amusing videogames!

I enjoyed a lot playing and finishing the two Syberia tales. I went through the first one very nicely. The double (!) channel jet radio and the very stupid pendulum clock in Syberia II obliged me to look for walk through in internet. Except this, wonderful atmospheres, audios,  and playability. Let’s hope for a Syberia III with Kate Walker again, even if Microids accuses Sony of too bad marketing strategies to develop the third chapter of this wonderful saga. And, yes, I could play them on my eeePC

What to do before moving to Switzerland: watch Die Schweizermacher

Just watch the movie “Die Schweizermacher“. If you plan to move to Zürich, watch also “Downtown Switzerland“.

The first movie, “The Swiss Makers” (1978), is still extremely actual. Although you’ll probably have nothing to do with the Kantonal Polizei, the ironically displayed Swiss behaviors are still very common in a big part of the Swiss population. Being foreigner, you’ll be very severely judged by the conservative part of Switzerland inhabitants. Swiss neighbors, state officers, colleagues, landlords, postmen, public service drivers will all keep a special eye on you. Every Swiss conservative has the duty to control foreigners, being foreigners very probably dangerous persons. Not hanging white curtains in the kitchen, sleeping on a mattress, not perfectly cleaning your flat, not having your wife at home but working outside, inviting foreigner friends at home, using different color trash bags, waking up late in the morning, not respecting the rigid washing times … these are all suspicious behaviors. Whenever you’ll get Swiss neighbors, you’ll remember about this movie.

The second movie, “Downtown Switzerland”, shows the contrast between the progressive and the conservative groups in Switzerland. Zürich is a socialist island in the middle of a Christian democrat ocean. You’ll feel this contrast very strong in the city and its citizens, and you’ll have the possibility to meet people looking at you not as a “foreigner parasite” but as a “human being”. In the movie, the ex major Lederberger addresses his conservative CDU-SVP counterparts as made of “Fritzen and Fritzinnen” . If he says so, you can believe him

I was in Chicago, some years ago, exactly when MJ 2005 trial ended with full absolution for him. I remember every US newspaper giving the news with huge bold titles. I remember people on the streets showing their joy for the happy end of that sad and fake story. I wonder how it is now  …

The nausea of everyday life

I seem to belong to another species. They leave the office after working hours, watching the houses and squares with satisfaction, they think this is their city [...]. It is obvious they believe they are in good standing with God, with the Law, with with their consciences [...] The world … this big absurd thing. We could not even ask ourselves where all of this was coming out from, nor why there was a world instead of nothing. It had no sense, the world was present everywhere, in front, behind. There was nothing before it. Nothing. Not there was a time when it could not exist. It was precisely this that made me crazy.

Without doubt there was no reason why it exists, this creeping larva. But it was not possible it did not exist. [...] Discovering that the world has no meaning, which is absurd, causes nausea. Il distacco fra becera politica e piacevole italianita’

Forse perche’ non vivo in italia da parecchio tempo, forse perche’ i media italiani sono servi delle toghe rosse e degli ultimi comunisti rimasti sulla faccia della terra. Non e’ la prima volta che seguo eventi / produzioni italiane all’ estero e ne rimango profondamente toccato. Che sia lo speciale su Fabrizio de Andre’ sulla RAI, o “Questo buio feroce” in tournee’ a Zurigo, o il concerto delle “Amiche per l’Abruzzo” che sto ascoltando in diretta internet, dopo che Daniele mi ha segnalato di essere a S.Siro.

Sara’ che sono Italiano, e certe cose che iniziano a mancare (forse) assurgono valori eccessivi. Tuttavia, il contrasto fra questi bei sentimenti legati al panorama culturale italiano e la mignottocrazia che ammorba la politica italiana, dicevo, questo contrasto e’ dilaniante.

In Europa e nel mondo l’Italia e’ quotidianamente descritta come un gran puttanaio fetente e mafioso, un bordello dove donnine pagate o “a gratis” porgono le proprie grazie a chi le puo’ fare avanzare di carriera. Le porgono a quelle stesse persone che a comizi organizzati e in televisione parlano di valori, giustizia e onore, liberta’ etcetcetc. Maledetti comunisti, avete proprio rovinato l’ Italia con la vostra ignavia.
