Consider being-religious as a genetic quality equal to “passing along unverifiable information” which rose up at a certain point during evolution. Consider at that time a population made of peopleA (that have this gene) in contact with a population of peopleB (without the gene: the non-believers).
If religion is a genetic quality, it can give benefits or no benefitsor being even negative to peopleA.
If an adaptation gives benefit to a population, this mean that peopleA (who passes unreal information) are more successful in reproduction than peopleB, who passes only real information. If not, the other way round. Read the rest of this entry »
I don’t want to seem the usual Italian macho making jokes about women and their sense of orientation, but… after 2 years trying to show my wife how to get directions reading road maps / road shields / flock shapes or animal bowels I give up Read the rest of this entry »
Read the rest of this entry »

Amazing what Mr. Borgomeo writes today on “La Repubblica” about the habit Italian car drivers have to run away after they kill pedestrians or scooter drivers. (Maybe you remember some months ago two Irish girls were killed in Rome by a drunken driver; one week ago an Italian couple on scooter has been killed in Rome by a man without driving license and under drug effects).
Who is partly guilty for this terrible behavior? Absence of social morality? Abuse of alcohol/drugs? Stupidity / ignorance / absence of social responsibility? Negative social models promoted by the never enough damned television? Read the rest of this entry »
Today has been an exciting day. Weather was not so good and not so many people were at the Katzensee, close to Zürich: a perfect occasion to shoot some birds without being annoyed. The first one I got is a wonderful Ardea cinerea. After it an Anas platyrinchos came into my viewfinder. To finish the day I shot a Passer domesticus, just for fun. Quite a good day today! I love my 70-300 mm zoom objective! In the picture: the exquisite steak of ostrich my wife cooked when i went home.
In fact, you’re probably left wing. Interesting survey in US: Republicans and people with no knowledge on global warming are less concerned about the problem. Is it because:
- Republicans are more religious and tend to think God more then human being have power on planet Earth changes (so, nothing to worry about it).
- Republicans are closer to industry and do not believe what green-party scientists declare
