Brutta aria per i discepoli del “papi“.

Pfizer: Put upon. Passed away. Promise.

How did I get to know that Pfizer (one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies) illegally tested a new product in Nigeria in 1996, causing the deaths of several?

First, a friend of mine suggested me to watch a very nice movie with a very stupid title: The constant gardener.
Second, I googled out the movie was made upon a book.
Third, I read the very useful Marcia Angell’s review on book and movie.
Fourth, I found on Washington Post a 2006 article about the Pfizer scandal in Nigeria.
Fifth, I found several 2007 articles like this about Nigeria government demanding billions of compensation to Pfizer.
Finally, I found an article from 2009 showing that Nigerian and Pfizer lawyers agreed to settle a multi-million dollar lawsuit out of the court.

This latter sounds to me like Pfizer recognizing the abuse of sick meningitis kids of Nigeria as guinea pigs to save money on test trials impossible to be done in West “civilized” goddamned countries.

Now, the question is: how can YOU work for a company like Pfizer? Josef Mengele was doing the same kind of experiments on Jews for the infamous Third Reich. Can we really compare Nazi government and Pfizer (“working together for a healthier World (TM)”) or is there something I missed in the whole story? Are all the sources linked to this post fake, or what?

Is it morally acceptable to buy products from Pfizer? I say NO.

And so we feel all at the end of the journey

No matter the journey has been good or bad.
No matter it has been a silly military propaganda like Battlestar Galactica
or our personal voyage.

We will miss our trip, a lot, at the end of it.
And we will feel lonely, very much indeed.
It’s time to start to enjoy the journey for itself, without thinking about the end of it.
That end which, anyway, will be the same for everybody.

Perche’ sei fiero di essere Italiano?

Troppo spesso trovo sul mio blog commenti di Italiani che rivendicano:

- superiorita’ dell’ Italia su altre nazioni
- superiorita’ della donna italiana su altre nazionalita’
- superiorita’ dell’uomo italiano in tutto
- superiorita’ del cibo italiano sul cibo di tutto il resto del mondo
- minacce provenienti dall’ esterno che porteranno alla distruzione dell’ italianita’.

Premesso che trovo deprimente vedere quanti (i)taliani cadano nel razzismo e nel provincialismo, illuminatemi e spiegatemi in cosa consiste quest’ “italianita’” che rende gli Italiani cosi’ superiori. Io manco dall’ Italia da parecchi anni, e a parte famiglia e amicizie, non mi manca proprio nulla. Evidentemente, non ho capito in cosa consiste questo mirabile dono chiamato “italianita’”.
