Be an environment-friendly shopper: don’t buy tetra pack!

July 2, 2008

Those days I’ve been a perfect cleaning gentleman, as my wife was somewhere else. Thus, I could have the ABSOLUTE control on our flat, as I had to do everything by myself. I could picture out which materials goes to the waste incinerator close to the city (and possibly back into our lungs/water). Here in Switzerland we can recycle practically everything:

- PET plastic bottles
- Metal and aluminum cans
- Glass bottles and jars
- Paper and carton
.. even the kitchen waste is used to prepare compost in the garden.

What I could NOT recycle in addition to the plastic films around meat and sausages or the thin plastic bags for vegetables/fruits was: the oddly stupid tetra pack. Tetra pack is made out of plastic, aluminum and carton. These three layers are really good pressed together: don’t ask me please to separate them! From now on I will buy juices and milk only in glass or PET.

P.S. I know in some countries like U.K. tetra pack can be recycled … but in Switzerland?

Brunnistöckli with Checco

June 29, 2008

Checco76 (.wordpress.com) came to visit us this wonderful sunny weekend in Switzerland. He got the best moment to experience with us the deadly and damn difficult “via ferrata” on the 2000 something meters of the Brunnistöckli! Two shaky Tibetan bridges were not enough to stop our heroes :) A really wonderful day. The pictures? Look on the right blog column a little bit down and click on the new “Brunnistöckli set” of FlickR pictures (or just click HERE for the direct link)

Do you remember the last time you found police useful?

June 21, 2008

Let me think.

In Italy:

- Police arrived after 2 hours (!) we had an accident: we had to stay 2 hours on the lane.
- I got a fee because I parked where was forbidden
- I got a fee because I entered a traffic restricted zone (I didn’t see the signal)
- One police jeep bumped in the rear of my car and broke the rear lights Read the rest of this entry »

June in Switzerland: Autumn comes

June 7, 2008

It is bloody rainy/cold today in north Switzerland. Heaters are off from 1 month and at home mushrooms pop up from the wood floor. The only way to solve the situation: wine drinking. Have a nice evening (today only 600 contacts… thanks EM2008)!

Laudatio to 64% of the Swiss citizens

June 1, 2008

64% of Swiss citizens said NO to the populist SVP proposal: this is a great signal against the groundless populist campaigns of Swiss right-conservative parties. Thank to 64% of the Swiss population :) Read HERE all the story.

Ebenalp: another Paradise Switzerland

May 26, 2008

The Appenzeller region is always full of beautiful surprises. This time we went up by cable car to Ebenalp, then we went down to Seealpsee through the prehistoric Wildkirchli caves. Another wonderful and lucky day in Switzerland. Watch our picture on Flickr. Click HERE.

My first bird shooting in Switzerland

May 24, 2008

Today has been an exciting day. Weather was not so good and not so many people were at the Katzensee, close to Zürich: a perfect occasion to shoot some birds without being annoyed. The first one I got is a wonderful Ardea cinerea. After it an Anas platyrinchos came into my viewfinder. To finish the day I shot a Passer domesticus, just for fun. Quite a good day today! I love my 70-300 mm zoom objective! In the picture: the exquisite steak of ostrich my wife cooked when i went home.

The after-all not-so-safe Zürich

May 19, 2008

I am quite shocked to hear again the same kind of accident happened (to different friends of mine) here in Switzerland. Burglars entered my friend apartment when he was on holiday and stole notebook and other valuables. Zürich police declared to my friend, once he came back home: “as you live in a flat on the corner of the building, this fact had higher probabilities to happen”. End of the story. Good Zürich is known to be a safe city!

It rains …

May 18, 2008

… over trees … over ducks

… over raincoats … over grills … over us

Sagen Sie NEIN zu SVP Einbuergerungen initiative

May 14, 2008

… so that even Italians and Russians like us can hope for a better future for ever and ever in Switzerland. I think this should push you to be against SVP initiative

Obtaining Swiss citizenship is already not easy with the actual laws: click here to read what you’ve to do after 12 years (12!) you live in Switzerland to get (maybe) a Swiss passport.

Informieren Sie sich warum SVP-Argumente falsch sind, lesen Sie 7 Gründe für ein NEIN am 1. Juni 2008
