What a nice daily hiking today on the north side of the Walensee. 12 brave men and women who managed to wake up before the sunrise, 12 hours of tough and beautiful paths through colorful autumn forests. No cold, no fatigue, no wine could stop them! I love it when a plan comes together.
This year we excluded Italy, Spain, Chile, Argentina and most of France. We surely like many wines from these countries, but we hardly managed last years to try something else So, this year we focused mainly on Germany, Austria ans Switzerland and we’ve been very positively surprised by:
PETITE ARVINE DU VALAIS 2008 (CH)
PAIEN (HEIDA) DU VALAIS 2007 (CH)
HUMAGNE BLANC 2008 (CH)
ZIZERSER PINOT NOIR 2008 (CH)

Hi tech jobs, job careers: over with it. I am fed up with the kind of results my job produces. Today we were by Ballenberg and we enjoyed so much being Schweizer Bauer for a day. In Tessin it was good, but also in Berner Oberland, Uri, Graubuenden and Jura it did not sound bad. Look at our picture on flickr.com - and, very important:
If you know a Bauerhof in need of new owners, here we are. We promise hard work, blog updates and all the interviews you want for a new reality show Just let us produce vegetable, eggs and milk!
It was a big success the inline skating marathon “Aktive gegen die Schweine Grippe” organized by Loranablog on the 29th of August 2009. Several enthusiastic inline skaters, following the motto “No kisses, no hugs .. it’s pandemic, baby! (CC)” rolled for 19,340 meters around the Greifen See. The sunny day and the süessmoscht gave more than enough juice to roll the long distance in only 3 hours and 22 minutes. The end of the day has been celebrated with a vigorous swimming in the lake and a gorgeous grill back in the city.
We thank all the participants and we look forward to the next great event!
P.P.S. you can support our initiatives against the swine flu pandemic by donating money to loranablog through Paypal (on the right columns of the blog)
When the 1st of August is celebrated with the family on the Rigi mountain, the integration grade of the immigrant in Switzerland starts to be quite high. Therefore, to show my father he has no more to be worried (for us) about washing machine days, ruhezeiten, ruhetagen and girillieren verbot, we had a very nice and long trip on the Rigi by cogwheel train and back to Luzern by steam wheel boat. I am sure we convinced him! Click HERE to open our flickr set about this sunny day!
Ok, let’s tell the truth. After 4 hours under the rain, it was not easy to still have the right spirit to shoot nice pictures . Nevertheless, some pictures were still worth to be cut and mixed in this wonderful slide puzzle. Actually, it is not sliding. Let’s change the game: “Find the intruder”. There’s an intruder in this slide puzzle mosaic. Even if you don’t know him/her, you could manage to find who he/she is
So, we conveniently celebrated on the Queen of the mountains, Mount Rigi, having some raclette for lunch. After it we climbed down to the Vierwaldstättersee, we took the Uri wheel boat and we had a bath at Luzern Lido. We finished the day admiring fireworks and big burning fires on the lake shores. Not bad, indeed!
I was surprised my employer did not inform us about work safety rules against H1N1. Last week, we finally got an e-mail titled: “How to avoid flu spreading in and outside working hours”.
- Wash hands many times per day
- Stay at home at least one day if feeling sick
- Keep a tissue on mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing
- Bin used tissues and wash hands after sneezing
- Do not shake hands, neither kiss people
- Stay 1 meter far away from other people
The first four look to me of common sense. The last two are somehow more difficult to respect … so, I printed out the t-shirt in the picture and to save myself and my friends from pandemic!
